Cleaning you new Kitchen Cabinets

10 Aug

Clients often ask how to take care of their new cabinetry, good question. Kitchen cabinet cleaning doesn’t have to be an exhausting chore. Unfortunately, between dust, pet hair and grease, it’s something we all have to do. Following these simple tips will have your cabinets clean in no time flat!

Inside the Cabinets- To clean the inside of your cabinets, empty them out and put your belongings somewhere safe; you don’t want broken dishes! Use a solution of bleach/water or mix a half of a cup of Borax with hot water. Dust out the shelves with a dry cloth and then wipe them off with a damp cloth using either bleach/water or Borax. Scrub any stubborn stains with a toothbrush or scouring pad.

Outside the Cabinets-To clean the outside of your cabinets, use a dish detergent like Dawn mixed with hot water. The dish soap will cut through any grease clinging to your cabinet doors. The detergent will also be gentle enough to your cabinets’ finish. Wipe the cabinets down with a clean, dry cloth to finish the job.

DO NOT use abrasive cleansers or pads on exterior cabinet surfaces, they can cause scratches that may be irreparable!

Take a few hours every six months or so to give your cabinets a good cleaning, inside and out. Doing so will not only give you clean cabinets but will keep pests at bay. It’s an easy job to do if you arm yourself with the right tools!
